Update 3 on the trial and the support around it

Day 3 - Mon. Oct 18th.
The day began with a single file procession lead by Yuko, a Buddhist nun from the Nipponzon Myohoji Peace Pagoda at Milton Keynes. We had celebrated Yuko's 8th. anniversary as a Buddhist nun and Stellan's 35th birthday the previous Wednesday. We passed the other Preston criminal court where a huge media contingent are covering a murder trial where a Manchester doctor has been charged with killing 15 elderly patients.
On arrival at court we heard from Ray of Manchester CND reflecting on U.S. warfighting bases in Britain and nuclear war preparations. Peter Billington a local Trade Union activist also adressed us on local union opposition to the recent NATO bombardment of Serbia. Ciaron O'Reilly reflected on the two trials one with massive media coverage considering accusations of retail homicide and the ploughshare defendants making accusations of premeditated wholesale preparations for genocide.
The courtroom was without the jury and involved a legal debate about the relevancy of International Law to the trial. A detailed report on the days fascinating preceedings is available from the above mentioned source. (Suprise suprise it didn't make the 6 o'clock news!)
The trial will resume Tueday Oct 19th. with the judge handing down a decision on Monday's legal argument.
We will continue to gather at St. Wilfreds Hall Chapel St. 8.30 a.m and proceed to court to set up outside and public gallery support for the defendants.
